We hope you guys are doing well in this tough times. Things haven’t been good lately with all the chaos happening around us right now,due to Covid-19 issue and everyone of us are quarantined right now. Locked into our bedrooms with nothing to do other than watching movies or playing games or virtually talking with our friends but do not worry! Today we have brought with ourselves a list of 12 binge-worthy web-series for your quarantine days. (The list does not include Breaking Bad, Friends and Game of Thrones.)
The List is in no order and the shows have been randomly posted.
1.Little things
The comedy-drama series centered on a twenty something couple living in mumbai.This story revolves around how arguing can be healthy.The lengthy discussions between the two forms the bedrock of the series.It also shows that how the changing nature of Indian cities due to a push towards urbanisation is erasing the charm and humanity that’s more present in the relationships built in small cities.And how a growing demand for the new way of life is causing parts of the old world to decay, rot, fall apart, and be left behind.And it also makes sure to look at the downsides of family and close-knit community as well. Immense love and care can very easily lead to feelings of being smothered. And people with shared lives tend to live alike and think alike, which means frequent questions over marriage in Kavya and Dhruv’s case, something they have little interest to rush in when they have yet to figure out the rest of their lives.
2. SELECTION DAY
Based on Aravind Adiga’s 2016 novel of the same name, this series came out in 2018.
The series follows the story of two talented cricketer brothers with their cricket obsessed father cum coach and his dream to turn the boys into International level cricketers. The story follows the journey of the boys from a small village to the fast-paced city of Mumbai for achieving their goal of becoming cricketers. The story deals with several issues like, domestic violence, dirty underground politics, sexual confusion, passion and most importantly mental health.
Held together by a strong cast of Mohammad Samad(known for his role in Tumbadd), Rajesh Tailang, Ratna Pathak and Manesh Manjrekar. The series is a short one and won’t bore you even for a minute but instead keep you hooked to the screens and the climax will keep you waiting for more.
3. The Assassination of Gianni Versace
This American crime story revolves around the murders of famous designer Gianni Versace by serial killer Andrew cunanan. It is though not a story about the legendary designer, but his physchotic serial killer Andrew cunanan, who murdered nearly 5 men including the founder of Versace. This series is very well crafted and Darren Criss puts forth a phenomenal performance as Cunanan. The antagonist carries a sense of mystery and sublimity to him, which makes it even more interesting. The ending of this series although remains quite subjective, but it can definitely be an entertaining one-time watch. It’s available on Netflix.
4.YOU
Season-1
Based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel of the same name, ‘YOU’ is a 21st century love story that asks, “What would you do for love?” When a brilliant bookstore manager crosses paths with an aspiring writer, his answer becomes clear: anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle – and person – in his way.
Season-2
Penn Badgley’s perversely endearing serial stalker keeps looking for love in all the wrong places during a second season that maintains the subversive tension while adding some welcome variations on the series’ formula.
The dark drama returns for its second season, with Joe now laying low and hiding from his ex in LA. Can he deal with his past and make a fresh start, this time with the right woman?
5.Brooklyn nine-nine
Brooklyn nine-nine is all wrapped up into adventure,comedy, action and humour.
It is a full comde-action series where the unconventional commander, Ray Holt and his team solves cases crime in Brooklyn, New York City. The New York cop, Jake Peralta played an outstanding wisecracker who gave the audience a great guffaw throughout the series. Beside him, every character has their own personality and quirky sense of humour. Unlike other sitcoms, this series Brookly nine nine is a burlesque treatment for the audience.
This series is fantastic and can never cease to make us laugh. It doesn’t suffer from the curse of getting boring over every seasons. It’s an interesting and delightful experience. It’s truly a must watch series, not because of it’s relevance but for it’s engrossing comedy.
6.GHOUL
What happens when you mix a cup of horror with a jug of nationalism? You get Ghoul.
Based in a dystopian India, where terror is at loose and the country is in a state of turmoil. The series deals with a plot where the Government has started taking steps against terror spreading groups or people. The plot goes around the theme where, several detention facilities across the country where people with anti-national mentalities are being sent for punishment. The series deals with a senior Officer played by Radhika Apte interrogating a dreaded terrorist. What happens next is spine-chilling, nerve-wrecking and even unexpected.
More specifically termed as political-horror, this series has mixed in a dose of horror where horror is least expected, this series is bound to take you on a ride.Liberals are despised in this place, education is not supported and neither are the minorities.
Supported by a strong cast of Radhika Apte,Manav Kaul and S.M Zaheer, this series won’t disappoint you and instead change your views on several topics.
7.Freud
There are certain terms that one would never associate with the esteemed psychotherapist, psychological thriller being one, but cut to 2020, there exists a web series on Sigmund Freud that is an out and out psychological thriller, and one of the better made web series in recent memory, provided you can dispose off of any preconceived ideas of seeing the Freud in the conventional factual form, and you will be good to go. Jokes aside, this web series is an absolute revelation with a riveting plot that has the ability to hook you to the seat with little effort due to the brilliantly written characters, and the entire plot. If you liked Sherlock, you are bound to fall in love with this web series. It is mildly sexualized (its Freud what did you expect) so viewer discretion advised. (Now Streaming on Netflix)
8.She
It is an Indian drama about a female cop posing as a prostitute.
A simple, lower middle-class Marathi girl pushed out of her comfort zone in the line of duty is the fulcrum of ‘She’ ,a seven-part police drama created by Imtiaz Ali for Netflix. The series flounders as it navigates a tricky terrain where gender dynamics are sought to be mingled with the conventions of a police and smugglers yarn. The effort to pull off the leap shows.
‘She’ does smoulder occasionally, but it never crackles with energy. The protagonist, Bhumi Pardesi (Aaditi Pohankar), transforms herself from a diffident Plain Jane breadwinner of a family that lives in a Parel chawl to an assertive seductress who sheds her inhibitions – and police uniform – and goes undercover to nab an elusive drug trade.
9.Delhi crime
New procedural anthology series created,written,directed by Indo-Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta showcases that the widespread international attention to and local impact of the Nirbhaya case, in which a young woman was gang raped and brutally assaulted by six men in Delhi in late 2012, it’s curious that there hasn’t been a single mainstream effort by Indian producers to recount the tragedy, the indelible effect it left on the Indian consciousness, and its importance in the social and political spheres of the country.Mehta knows how to build moment with his directions.That is the true wordless scene in the finale.It also briefly touches upon the societal causes in India arises violence through income to the lack of sexual education.This s howed that this case needed attention which was given by the filmmaker.He showed the real case in a fabricated manner.
10.Sex education.
sex education delves into a lot of contentious subjects like that are served as taboo and awkward to be discussed.
The story basically revolves around an American themed British High school where the protagonists who is an awkward teenager, inexperienced in his sexual life and faces a lot of struggles with his mother’s profession and his mother’s interference in his own private life.
The series is hilarious with a great package of laughter throughout. The dialogues used in every scene are magnificent and takes the audience into a different world of it’s own. Every teen-ager can relate to this series as it delves into certain topics which the teenagers feels insecure about. Twenty first century teen-agers will find great comfort and gladdening watching all the characters.
Sex education is pretty much an adorable yet humorous and side-splitting drama.
There are certain points when the series could have turned out to be preachy but it doesn’t and holds onto it’s humoristic approach and grasps hold of the audience till the very last episode. It’s a must watch series and it actually
gives a message about the importance of self-assertion and proper understanding.
11.This is us
This is us is a heart wrenching story about love, loss, suffering, forgiveness and allowing yourself those second chances. The story revolves around a family’s struggle and bonding with eachother over different time frames of their lives. It follows the story of Randall, Kevin and Kate (also referred to as “the big three”) and their parents Jack and Rebecca. The series swings on a non-linear timeline taking place simultaneously in present and past. This series masterfully combines the complexities of human relationships and intentions. The characters are very well developed and the dual timeline combined with unexpected twists will leave you glued till the very end. This series will question your own relationship and perceptions. It has it’s heart at the right place. You cannot skip this one! It’s available on Hotstar.

12.Asur
There are multiple facets to the world around us, wherein every other person we meet can never claim to be an absolute do-gooder or an absolute evil person, and he neither can someone tag the said person as such. In the very same way, the world of ‘Asur’ is one of complexity and painted in numerous shades of gray. If you are fond of complex psychological thrillers and a constant tug of morality, then this is the go to show for you, for this web series is one of the best when it comes to twists and one of the best reveals in recent times. And, if not for anything else, watch it for the performances and the genius behind the series. (Now Streaming on Voot Select)
