A film made for the millennial.

“It was exciting to see her grow –
both of us grow and change together. But then, that’s the hard part – growing without growing apart, or changing without it scaring the other person.”
The above mentioned quote is from the film,’Her’ and if inspected properly holds a very deep meaning. We all fall in love, sometimes our story of love gets completed and sometimes it doesn’t but the most beautiful part of this whole story of love is, falling in love and so is the case in this film by Spike Jonze.

The film is a combination of the genres Sci-fi,Romance and drama. The film justifies to all the genres it enters into. The film explores deep inside the life of an author and makes us witness his evolution from a lonely divorced husband searching for love to a jovial man in love.
The film is set in a distant future where everything is done by the machines including the writing part. The film explores the Journey of Joaquin Phoenix a lonely author who works at a letter writing company writing letters for people who do not possess the skill of penning down words. The journey sees him evolve from a lonely divorced man searching for love, going to random dates but failing to find love to a cheerful man in love when he falls in love with a virtual being. The film tells us that love can be found in any form and is not necessary to be found with another physical being. The film also deals with the concept of heartbreak when people with whom we grow together suddenly leave. The film discovers the new concept which was never delved into and is a must watch for the people of this generation who are busy involved in the online and virtual world.
Visually, Her is stunning, the picturesque portrait of near-future LA in which streets shimmer and shine, and people bathe in the light of hi-definition screens and glowing personal appliances, each locked into their own virtual world. The color palette used is a treat to the eyes and can make anyone fall in love with the film. The use of the soft and bright colors portray the fact that this is a romantic film. The film is a constant battle between the head and the heart and constantly reminds us that no matter being in love with a physical being is the main point and no matter how much you are in love with a virtual being, you are aloof inside much like today’s youth.
